What Is Surface Flammability Testing?
A measure of the spread of flame across the surface of a material without the flame necessarily involving the main body of the material gives an indication of the flammability of the material and its ability to spread the fire and thus endanger life. The test is called upon in many fire specificati***, a new requirement being in prCEN TS 45545-2 for many products on European rolling stock (classification is made upon c***ideration of the C.F.E. results only, the Qsb results do not influence the classification of the product for this application). The test is also conducted with the addition of thermocouples for the shipping industry (IMO MSC 61(67) Annex 1 Part 5 and Part 6). |
