To determine the performance of a specimen when it is subjected to the conditi*** of test specified in UIC Code 564-2 "Regulati*** Relating To Fire protection And Fire-Fighting Measures In Passenger Carrying Railway Vehicles Or Assimilated Vehicles Used On International Services” Appendix 13 "Test Method For Determining The Fire-Resistance Of Seats".
The test was performed in accordance with the procedure specified in UIC 564-2
Appendix 13 and this report should be read in conjunction with that Standard.
UIC 564-2 Appendix 13 details a test procedure, for the measurement of the fire
resistance of a seating product, using a newspaper fire source, burning under the defined conditi*** of test.
Certain aspects of some fire test specificati*** are open to different
interpretati***. The Fire Test Study Group and EGOLF h***e identified a number of such areas and h***e agreed Resoluti*** which define common agreement of interpretati*** between fire test laboratories which are members of the Groups. Where such Resoluti*** are applicable to this test they h***e been followed.
The test specimens were conditioned by maintaining them in indoor ambient conditi*** for 72 hours and then for a minimum of 16 hours at 23 &plu***n; 2oC and a relative humidity of 50 &plu***n; 5%.
Ignition source Newspaper fire source, as detailed in clause 2 of Appendix 13 was used.
