JRl5、JRl6等系列热继电器采用复合加热方式并采用了温度补偿元件，因此较能正确反映负载的工作情况。
JRl、JR2、JR0和JRl5系列的热继电器均为两相结构，是双热元件的热继电器，可以
用作三相异步电动机的均衡过载保护和Y联结定子绕组的三相异步电动机的断相保护，但不能用作定子绕组为△联结的三相异步电动机的断相保护。
JRl6和JR20系列热继电器均有带有断相保护的热继电器，具有差动式断相保护机构。热继电器的选择主要根据电动机定子绕组的联结方式来确定热继电器的型号，在三相异步电动机电路中，对Y联结的电动机可选两相或三相结构的热继电器，一般采用两相结构的热继电器，即在两相主电路中串接热元件。对于三相感应电动机，定子绕组为△联结的电动机必须采用带断相保护的热继电器。热继电器的图形及文字符号如图2所示。
